ART

🇮🇹 Italian version

ART (Tor Vergata Anagrafe della Ricerca) is the tool that allows anyone interested to access data related to the research activities conducted by our University’s researchers, in order to:

  • Make the data of the entire scientific output accessible online;
  • Increase the visibility of both the University and its individual authors;
  • Make a useful database available for other activities (career advancement, evaluations, etc.);
  • Allow authors to create their own archive, interoperable with other systems (e.g., LoginMiur);
  • Offer authors a tool to track their output through interoperability with Scopus and WOS;
  • Promote Open Access and Open Science by allowing the upload of the full text of their products.

Individual authors affiliated with the University (professors, researchers, and TAB staff) independently upload data related to their research outputs. The term ‘products’ refers to:

  • Articles or translations published in a journal;
  • Conference papers;
  • Contributions or translations in an edited book;
  • Monographs;
  • Book translations;
  • Editorships;
  • Patents;
  • Others (projects, drawings, etc.)

Once uploaded, the data are reviewed and validated by the library staff responsible for each area; for the Engineering Macro-area, this task is carried out by the staff of the Biblioteca Area Ingegneria.

For any other doubts, feel free to contact the ART help desk or the staff of the Engineering library.

I am a new professor or researcher at Tor Vergata. How do I access ART for the first time?

In case of first access, you must first contact the ART support service to be enabled.

Once you receive confirmation of your activation, you can log in for the first time using the email provided by the ART support service and set your password. Enter the email in the screen that appears at the following path (you can select the English language at the top right):

Home page ART >> Login >> Problemi di accesso all’account?

IMPORTANT: The email address to be used is generally the one indicated as the preferred contact for institutional communications! To verify the email registered in the system, you can consult the Tor Vergata Rubrica. If you wish to change your email, please contact the ART support service for assistance.

Once you have logged in for the first time, you need to:

  • Sign and submit the usage licenses to the ART support service;
  • Set up and synchronize your ORCID identifier to import the publications listed on your profile;
  • Choose whether to import your publications from Scopus (using your Scopus Author ID) by selecting the pop-up that appears on the “desktop products”);
  • If you wish to import your publications from the LoginMiur portal, you need to contact the ART support service.
What are usage licenses, and can I sign them if I have a contract with a publisher?

The usage licenses must be signed and sent to the ART support service after the first login to the platform. These are the same licenses that the system requests whenever new publication data is uploaded to ART.

Specifically:

They certify the author’s commitment to including bibliographic data related to their scientific works in ART, as well as the assurance that such data are accurate and free from third-party rights. In the case of abstracts, the author must ensure that they are unpublished (i.e., not the abstract already included in the work or published on the publisher’s website).

As for:

It concerns the possibility of depositing a full-text copy of one’s work on ART and the related rights and uses that the author grants to the University in doing so. If the author wishes to deposit the full text of a work for which a publishing contract has already been signed, it is necessary to check whether the publisher’s policies allow the deposit of a copy in an institutional archive. For further information, please refer to the Open Access section on the website, specifically the part dedicated to depositing in an institutional archive.

What do “pubblicazioni da riconoscere” and/or “riconoscimenti da validare” mean?

Pubblicazioni da riconoscere are publications entered on ART by other authors in which my name appears in the list of co-authors but has not been mapped as an internal author. If I am indeed a co-author of that publication, I can recognize it and link it to my personal data; otherwise, I can disavow it to prevent it from being associated with my personal data.

Riconoscimenti da validare are those entered by me on ART for which a co-author – who I have not mapped as an internal author – has requested recognition. If the requester is indeed a co-author of the publication in question, I will need to validate their request in order to allow them to associate the publication with their personal data.

How does synchronization with LoginMiur work?

Synchronization with LoginMiur does not occur automatically; instead, it must be activated by each individual researcher for each publication via the appropriate Actions Menu. This means that for publications with multiple co-authors, each author can independently choose whether or not to enable synchronization.

The synchronization occurs every day at 11:00 PM, so it is necessary to wait until the following day to verify that the synchronization has been completed correctly. In the MIUR column on the Products Desktop, the following statuses appear::

  • Disattivo: synchronization has not been activated;
  • Attivo: synchronization has been successful;
  • Errore: there is an error in the record that prevents the submission to LoginMiur.;
  • Non inviato: submission is not foreseen for this type of document (e.g., unpublished conference presentation).
